Selection Criteria

Grades 1 to 5 Races

1)          Placed 1st , 2nd or 3rd at last tote start

2)          Placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at second to last tote start

3)          Placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at third to last tote start

4)          Downgraded dogs

5)           Non tote winners

7)          Next best tote form (4th before 5th, 5th before 6th&) etc

 

Maiden Races

1)            2nd @ last maiden tote start

2)            3rd @ last maiden tote start

3)            2nd @ two tote starts back

4)            3rd @ two tote starts back

5)            Winner of first ever qualifying trial. Note applies at first tote start only

6)            2nd @ three tote starts back

7)            3rd @ three tote starts back

8)            Non tote winner

9)            Second at first ever qualifying trial.  Note applies at first tote start only

10)         Third at first ever qualifying trial.  Note applies at first tote start only

11)         Winner at most recent qualifying trial  Note applies at first tote start only

12)         Second at most recent qualifying trial  Note applies at first tote start only

13)         Next best tote form (4th before 5th,  5th before 6th&etc)

14)         All other first starters

 

Distance Races

1)    Placed 1st at last distance tote start

2)    Placed 2nd at last distance tote start

3)    Placed 3rd at last distance tote start

4)    Placed 1st at second to last distance tote start

5)    Placed 2nd at second to last distance tote start

6)    Placed 3rd at second to last distance tote start

7)    Downgraded distance dogs

8)    Placed 4th at last distance tote start

9)    Grade over middle distance, higher grade has preference (C5 before C4 etc)

10) Next best tote form (4th before 5th,  5th before 6th&etc)

 

Reserve Greyhounds

A reserve greyhound will be given a priority draw at the next race meeting where a race is carded under the following conditions:

1)            Nominated for the same grade and distance.

2)            Priority draw will not apply to any combined grade race at the next meeting.

3)            No more than 2 reserve priority draws will be available in any one race.  If more than two greyhounds are eligible, priority will be given to the greyhounds with the best form.

4)            No priority draws will be available in Feature races.

 

Notes

Imported greyhounds nominated for the first time will have the above Selection Criteria applied on the form supplied by the NZGRA.

Placed runs 2nd to 8th in non tote races will not be taken into account when applying the Selection Criteria

Any start where greyhound is recorded on the NZGRA database as having fallen during the race will not be taken into account when applying the Selection Criteria

Grades will be combined at the discretion of the Club, no nomination conditions to the contrary are acceptable

High Grade Meetings

Field Selection is to be completed on the following guidelines:

  • Feature races
  • One race per grade, in descending order, from distance then middle distance categories
  • Second or additional races per grade, in descending order, from distance and then middle distance categories
  • Combined grade races from distance and middle distance categories
  • One race per grade, in descending order in sprint C5 to C3
  • Second or additional races per grade , in descending order, from sprint C5-to C3
  • Combined grade races from sprint C5 to C3
  • One race per grade in descending order from sprint C2 to C1
  • Second or additional races per grade in descending order from sprint C2 to C1
  • Combined grade races from sprint C2 to C1
  • C0 sprint grade races

Mixed Grade Meetings

Field Selection is to be completed on the following guidelines:

  • Feature races
  • One race per grade, in descending order, from distance then middle distance categories
  •  
  • One race per grade, in descending order in sprint category
  •  
  • Combined C5/4 grade races from middle distance and then sprint categories
  • Second or additional races per grade, in descending order, from distance and then middle distance categories
  • Combined grade races from distance and middle distance categories
  • Second or additional races per grade , in descending order, from sprint category
  • Combined grade races from sprint category

Low Grade Meetings

Field Selection is to be completed on the following guidelines:

  • Feature races
  • One race per grade, in ascending order sprint then middle distance from C0 to C2 grades.
  • Second race per grade, in ascending order from sprint then middle distance graded C0 to C2 grades
  • One race per grade in sprint C3 grade then middle distance C3 grade
  • One race per grade in ascending order in middle distance C4 to C5 grade
  • One race per grade in ascending order in sprint C4 to C5
  • Additional races   then combined grade races in ascending order from middle distance category
  • Additional races per grade, in ascending order from sprint category
  • Combined grade races from sprint category

Notes

1             Restricted Age races are considered between C2 and C3 grades in middle distance and sprint

2             Second or additional races must have 10 dogs, with exception that the Club reserves the discretion at High Grade meetings only to card C3 to C5 middle distance and sprint races with eight or more dogs..

3             50% of the combined grade field must be of the higher grade dogs.

           The exception being for combined middle distance grades where there 

            there must be a minimum of three runners from the higher grade.

4             The Selector has discretion to combine two grades with a lesser percentage of higher grade dogs to achieve a full card of racing, i.e. 12 races.
